What inspired you to become a therapist?

My inspiration comes from a deep passion to help remove the stigmas surrounding mental health, especially for mothers. Throughout my 20+years in the field, particularly in crisis intervention, I've seen how often people struggle in silence because they feel ashamed or alone. I was inspired to create a safe, non-judgmental space where individuals can feel truly heard and supported, empowering them to move through their most challenging seasons with compassion.

What types of clients do you typically work with?

I typically work with individuals and couples navigating the perinatal period. This includes supporting teenage mothers, single mothers, and couples with a range of issues such as infertility, miscarriage, pregnancy, and the postpartum period. My work as the program lead for the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline gave me extensive experience in supporting parents through all facets of this transformative stage of life.

How would you describe your approach to therapy?

My approach is grounded in compassion, empathy, and curiosity. At my core, I utilize a person-centered approach, which means I honor your unique journey and story. I also lead with a trauma-informed perspective, focusing not on what's "wrong," but on understanding what has happened to you and how we can move through it together. My ultimate goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you feel understood and where growth and healing can unfold.

What can a client expect from their first session with you?

You can expect our first session to be a gentle and collaborative space focused on you. My primary goal is to listen, understand, and begin building a foundation of trust. We'll explore what brought you to therapy, what your hopes are, and what challenges you're facing. I meet each client exactly where they are in their journey, so there is no pressure to be anywhere but where you are. The first session is the start of us creating a safe space for your story to be heard.

If you could give one piece of advice to someone struggling with their mental health, what would it be?

Please be gentle with yourself. Life doesn't unfold in straight lines, and neither does healing. It's okay to not be okay, and it's okay to ask for help. Acknowledging your struggle is a sign of incredible strength, not weakness. The first step toward feeling better is often the hardest, but you don't have to take it alone.

What do you hope clients take away from their work with you?

I hope clients take away a feeling of being truly seen, heard, and validated. My goal is for you to leave our work together with a renewed sense of hope, a deeper level of self-compassion, and the confidence that you possess the inner strength to navigate life's challenges. Ultimately, I want you to feel less alone and more empowered on your path to wellness.

Is there anything else that you'd like to share?

I once had the incredible honor of singing with my choir for the Pope in the Vatican!
